Stefano began his legal career in Australia, practicing in private equity and funds before joining Kirkland & Ellis in New York. There, he focused on secondaries and complex liquidity transactions.
Having advised sponsors and executed transactions himself, he understands the work behind a practice and the commercial decisions that shape a legal career. That experience informs his approach to search: financial acuity, technical understanding, and a clear view of the market.
At GPS Advisory, he leads the legal search practice, advising associates, counsel, and partners across secondaries, funds, GP stakes, and private equity. His work spans the United States and London, with a focus on the next generation of partner talent. He represents partners with books of business ranging from approximately $5 million to more than $40 million.
Stefano has negotiated over $100 million in associate and partner compensation. He handles each mandate discreetly, weighing the timing of a move, the economics of a practice, and the internal dynamics of the firm.
He is based in New York, where he lives with his dog, Mack.
